LUXE Homes Design Build - A full design+build collaborationwww.LuxeHomesDesignBuild.com
This organic Prairie-style ranch home is thoughtfully sited on a grassy knoll that gently rolls down to meadowland and a forest beyond. The strong intersecting horizontal and vertical lines that define the architecture root the home to the land; while the distinctive and unifying low-sloping metal roof and outstretching deep-overhanging eaves create a sheltering aura which embraces the earth.
Planter boxes extend the energy of the architecture into the landscape; while bands of windows accentuate the horizontality and connect the exterior and interior environments. The land and the exterior and interior architecture are indelibly intertwined.
Organic materials of stone, wood, metal, and glass that comprise the exterior form are seamlessly carried throughout the open-floor-plan interior spaces where mid-century-modern-design elements are artfully fused with a modern interpretation of Prairie-style to create an immensely livable and uplifting home.
Custom-designed and artisan-crafted furniture, showcasing the intrinsic natural beauty of black walnut and tamo ash, are affixed to the architecture and juxtaposed with oxidized metals, granite, slate, leather and wool. Warm and cool tones play throughout the spaces with serene hues of blue, grey, and white, derived from the changing colors of the sky, counterbalancing the warm organic wood tones.
Earthy slate flooring, integrating warm-and-cool hues, sweeps through the main spaces, unifying them. An extensive and diverse collection of art pieces, ranging from oil and encaustic paintings, woven-linen-textile artworks, kiln-formed-reclaimed-glass sculptures, Pewabic pottery, art-glass panels, a “forged-iron-and-shattered-glass” coffee table, and hand-knotted rugs are thoughtfully curated throughout the spaces, united by color and theme.
